About Your Therapist
Hi, I’m Jo-anne. For more than 25 years, I’ve supported students, parents, and educators through the moments when school, college, and life feel heavier than expected. I started as a therapist, then spent decades in education working with individuals with ADHD, autism, anxiety, depression, and a wide range of learning and emotional needs.
I’ve sat in thousands of institutional meetings, navigating support plans as both a professional and as a parent. I know firsthand the complex mix of hope, frustration, and responsibility that comes with advocating for academic and personal success. That lived experience shapes the way I show up in the therapy room.
Today, as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), I specialize in helping adolescents and college students manage emotions, navigate major life transitions, strengthen executive functioning, and build confidence. I support parents who feel overwhelmed or unsure how to help their changing family, and I walk alongside educators navigating stress, compassion fatigue, and burnout.
I founded Hoyt Therapy to be the bridge I saw so many people needed-a place where teens and young adults feel understood, parents feel grounded and informed, and educators have space to breathe and reconnect with the work they care about.
My goal is simple: to bring calm, clarity, and direction during demanding educational chapters, so no one has to carry the weight alone.
