About Your Therapist

Hi, I’m Jo‑anne. For more than 25 years, I’ve supported children, parents, and educators through the moments when school and life feel heavier than expected. I started as a therapist, then spent decades in Special Education working with students with ADHD, autism, anxiety, depression, and a wide range of learning and emotional needs.

I’ve sat in thousands of IEP meetings, as an educator and as a parent of a child on an IEP. I know the mix of hope, frustration, and responsibility that comes with wanting the very best for your child. That lived experience shapes the way I show up in the therapy room.

Today, as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), I specialize in helping children manage emotions and behavior, strengthen executive functioning, and build confidence. I support parents who feel overwhelmed or unsure how to help, and I walk alongside educators navigating stress, compassion fatigue, and burnout.

I founded Hoyt Therapy to be the bridge I saw so many people needed, a place where kids feel understood, parents feel grounded and informed, and educators have space to breathe and reconnect with the work they care about.

My goal is simple: to bring calm, clarity, and direction to the people who care for children, so no one has to carry the weight alone.
